Wahppers tally 22 hits to defeat Cass County Catfish

The Wahpeton Wahppers bounced back from Sunday’s 9-8 road loss at the hands of the Detroit Lakes Ligers with a 13-0 road drubbing of the Cass County Catfish on Wednesday.

Wahpeton collected an eye-popping 22 hits, improving its season record to 11-6.

Caden Kappes lit up the night sky in a 5-for-5 performance, scoring four runs and driving in another. Kappes, who barreled a pair of doubles, is batting .481 with a team-high 23 runs.

Jake Uhlich stayed hot with another three-hit performance and two RBIs. Uhlich has seen his average rise from below the Mendoza line to a sizzling .304 clip amid his recent tear.

Ryan Loewe added three hits and produced six total runs in the cleanup spot. Loewe is batting .346 with a team-high 15 RBIs.

Jack Davies added a trio of singles, while Ben Clouse, Jackson Fliflet and Tori Uhlich tallied two hits apiece.

Clouse went the distance in a seven-inning complete game. The righty allowed two hits and a walk while striking out nine, throwing 90 pitches for his second win of the summer. Clouse has 23 strikeouts in as many innings.

The Wahppers travel to Fergus Falls to face the Hurricanes at 8 p.m. Friday.
