A big win put the Oakes Tornadoes in the season’s last poll. Also staying in are the Wahpeton Huskies.
Oakes is fourth in Class B in the final boys ranking of the season and Wahpeton is fourth in Class A. Both polls were released Wednesday by the North Dakota Associated Press Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association.
Oakes defeated Hankinson on Tuesday 86-74 to win the District 1B championship for the second consecutive year. This is the first time that the Tornadoes have made the top five this season.
Wahpeton is up a spot from last week and ranked for the fourth straight time. The Huskies, 16-5 and fourth in a very competitive Region 1 in Class A, will meet Northern Cass in a quarterfinal on Monday.
Four Winds-Minnewaukan ended the regular season on top in Class A, as they were for the previous six weeks. Central McLean is number one in Class B for the 11th straight week.
