The Wahpeton boys basketball team slotted back into the North Dakota Associated Press Sportswriters and Sportscasters poll, released Wednesday as voted on by members of the media. The Huskies opened the season at No. 5 before dropping a spot last week.
Wahpeton posted a convincing 76-56 home win over No. 4-ranked Four Winds-Minnewaukan on Saturday. The impressive win earned Wahpeton the No. 4 spot this week as the look to solidify themselves in the early-season contender conversation.
Devils Lake (5-0) received 12 of 17 first-place votes to retain the top spot. Beulah (2-0) remained second with two first-place votes and Kindred (3-0) remained third with three first-place votes. Wahpeton (2-0) moved into the fourth spot followed by Central Cass (3-1) rounding out the top five.
Other teams receiving votes: Four Winds-Minnewaukan (1-1), Shiloh Christian (2-1) and Killdeer (5-1).
