The Breckenridge Cowboys caught fire in the last four minutes of the first quarter and never looked back in a 48-13 road win over Lake Park-Audubon Friday.

With 3:54 left in the opening quarter, Riley Kappes threw a dart to the back of the endzone to Gabe Armitage for a seven-yard strike. Cooper Roberts housed an interception for the second week in a row (the fourth defensive score of the season for the Cowboys) and he followed it up with a 27-yard TD grab to make it 20-o after one quarter.

David Erlandson had 156 yards with a 19-yard score at the halftime break. He’d only get 14 carries on the day for 166 yards.

Levi Christensen went across the middle for an 11-yard scoring grab for his first TD of the year to make it a 34-0 lead. A couple personal foul penalties allowed LPA to capitalize on the field position for a 15-yard passing score right before the half.

Kappes went back to his favorite target, Roberts, for a 20-yard TD. It was their second connection of the day through the air as Kappes went for a career-high four TDs with 153 yards on 11-16 passing. He was 4-4 in the second half. Roberts’ three-TD day was also a career high as he turned five catches into 78 yards.

The Raiders got another score in the fourth on a short-yardage QB keeper and Joey Lopez put the finishing touches on the game. He dazzled on a 56-yard rush and turned into a power back on the next play with a short-yardage score.

Kai McDonald and Sullivan Michel each had a sack for BHS as they improved to 6-0.

Next up for the undefeated Breck squad is a 7 p.m. matchup at home against New York Mills.
