Former multi-sport Kindred High School star Abby Duchscherer, already one of the top sluggers on the University of Alabama softball team, is taking her talents to the hardwood. Duscherer announced Wednesday in a cryptic Instagram post that she will be “exploring the opportunity to play college basketball for the 2026-27 season.”
The hard-hitting first baseman stopped short of a farewell to the Crimson Tide, but thanked her coaches and teammates and stated she will finish out her softball career with Alabama and Team 30 this spring.
In three seasons with Alabama softball, Duchscherer has started 107 games, boasting a career batting average of .273 with 13 home runs and 55 RBIs.
Duchscherer was a highly-touted prospect for the Kindred Vikings coming out of high school. In 2022, she was named North Dakota Gatorade Basketball Player of the Year.
