The memorial service for Jacqueline King will be on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at 11 AM at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND, with a one-hour visitation before the service.
Jacqueline “Jackie” Marlene Joyce Kottsick King, age 90, formerly of Wahpeton, ND, and Lake Lida, MN, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Knute Nelson Care Center, Alexandria, MN, on Saturday, August 30, 2025.
Jackie was born in Minot, ND, on August 1, 1935, to George and Cora (Henninger) Kottsick. She graduated from Minot High School and married the love of her life, Donald King, on February 6, 1955, in Minot, ND.
Jackie embraced many roles in her lifetime, loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She always had beautiful flowers as well as a large, bountiful garden. She enjoyed canning and was an excellent cook and baker. As her children grew older, she pursued a career outside her home. She started working at Pamida and then at 3M, where she retired. She and Don then moved to Lake Lida, MN, where they enjoyed many years surrounded by family and friends. Later in life, she and Don wintered in Winterhaven, CA. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, playing games, and teaching them different crafts. She will be remembered as a warm, loving lady who enjoyed life to the fullest.
Jackie is survived by her children, Victoria (George) Lohmann, West Fargo, ND, Terry (Deb) King, Maricopa, AZ, Kathy (Gerard) Bercier, Jamestown, ND, Tim (Maya) King, Danbury, WI, Heather (Jim) Thiel, Cottage Grove, MN., Holly (Joseph) Sanganoo, Alexandria, MN, 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews and their families.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald, parents, George and Cora Kottsick, brothers and sisters, Viola Graffe, Evelyn Zick, Grace Otto, Ruth Weber, Norma Johnson, Carol Schmierer, Robert Kottsick, Virgil Kottsick, and Quentin Kottsick.
