A pair of Breckenridge-Wahpeton softball teams brought home some hardware from the Rec 3 East State Tournament in Grand Forks this past weekend, finishing inside the top 10 of a 38-team field.

Red River Valley and Western Railroad/Pinewood Kennels/Corner Drug rebounded from an opening-game loss to capture the Consolation Championship with four consecutive wins.
Sunday’s victories came against Beito Coffee, 16-11, Pye Barker, 13-10, and Joe Blacks Diamondblacks, 21-8.

Valley Fab/Casey’s Bar lost its first two games by a combined three runs, including a walk-off loss in extra innings to begin the weekend. They proceeded to reel off three straight wins Sunday to claim the Cactus Championship.
The victories came over Kingpinz, 13-5, KP Construction, 13-10, and Absaraca, 10-9.
Randy Hodges secured the final out against Absaraca on a diving catch in left field with the tying run on second base.
